Tiffany mounted Firecracker, and walked him onto the soft dirt. He whinnied as Tiffany saw Feliks. Hey, are you Feliks? I'm Tiffany. She smiled. Firecracker whinnied to Feliks. This is Firecracker. She patted him. He tossed his head with joy.

Feliks had finished longing his gelding. Hero liked to bolt around the line for a couple seconds to buck and get the ants out of his pants, but then he was pracitcally perfect under saddle. He still played games, but that was ok. "Good boy," Feliks said as he swung up onto the dapple gray. He heard a whinny followed by a girl's voice, and then another whinny. He hoped the horse didn't do that the whole time. "Yep, that's me," Feliks said. "He looks like a pretty good horse," he said, but saw a lot of weight that needed to be lost before he would race properly. "So what does he need help with?" Feliks asked.

Well this boy, he needs a bit of help with the gates, and he also needs some longer distance running. He is sorta, alright, with the gates. His longer distance running needs a tad touch. Tiffany sat onboard the black stallion, who shook his mane. Tiffany began to trot him up and down a bit.

He listened to the girl explain her horse's troubles. Meanwhile, Hero stood with a foot rested as he played with the cherry roller on the bit. "All right, well we'll work on the distance right now. We'll do two laps, but just breeze him. Hero & I will canter along in the inside," he told the girl. It seemed like he just needed to be finished off. The distance should amount to two miles. "Remember, just breeze him," he said. This wouldn't be timed, it was just going to be used for conditioning purposes.

Tiffany obeyed, and started to do a slow canter, round the track. Firecracker kicked dirt behind him, as he did a nice slow canter. He tucked his head in, and nickered to Hero. They passed four furlongs, and he began to whizz ahead. Tiffany pulled him back along side Hero. Easy, boy. He tried to snatch his head out of Tiffany's hands. He chomped on the bit, and just continued to canter. With one and a half laps to go, Tiffany was wondering if he would manage to complete it. How's he doing, Feliks? She asked.

Hero snorted, but did not respond to the whinny. He kept a nice gait along the rail. It was a good thing he was still young so he could still do these kinds of things. "He's doing good, he'll go farther than you think," he told her reassuringly. Most people didn't push their horses hard enough so they got away with everything. He noted how the horse wanted to rush ahead; at least he had motive and energy to do that.

Firecracker stopped fighting for his head. He settled down, beside Hero. He only concentrated on what the jockey commanded him to do. He looked down at his white bandages, which weren't so white anymore. He kept concentrating on the ahead race, as they passed the mile pole, a mile to go.

Feliks smiled as the horse settled down to business. "Make sure he doesn't just drag along, and that he engages his hind quarters. It will help him run faster longer," he said. Hero started to sweat under the saddle pad, but it was from the heat and the constant motion. He always liked to keep going, and didn't mind a long run every once and a while. "Ok you can let him go a bit more now, but keep in mind you still have a mile," he called over to Tiffany.

He moved his hind quarters nicely, in a lovely rhythm. She obeyed, and slackend her grip a bit. His pace stepped up a small bit, but he was still in a nice bouncy rhythm. Tiffany watched his movement, he was Ok, nice and balanced. There was half a mile left to run, and he stayed in the same pace, breathing getting a bit harder.

Feliks kept Hero going. He kept going along with no problem, but snorted to clear his airway. He watched as the girl lengthened her reins. Nodding slightly, he nudged the grey gelding into a faster lope. Soon the run was over, and he brought Hero down to a walk. "Your horse did nicely, but not the way we'll want him to run in a race. We'll work on technique some other time, as that needs some help. You're good, he just needs to be tweaked. See you later, then!" he said, and swung off Hero and led him to the barn.
