Horse's Name: Elusive Jewel Date: August 26th Purpose of Session: to lead with halter at a trot Trainer: Keelin Lennox
"Hey girl," the trainer said to the filly. Her dam was in a different barn now, as Jewel was in the late stages of weaning. Soon they would be able to see each other again and not cause a ruckus, but for now it was better this way. "Let's go," Keelin said as she finished buckling the foal halter onto the chestnut filly. At first the young Thoroughbred would not move as the halter was tugged at, but Keelin put a hand behind Jewel's rump and she moved forward. "Good girl," the woman said and continued on to the arena.
"Now then," she murmered, giving the nearly shed-out filly a pat. Jewel whinnied loudly, wondering where her friends were. Getting no answer, she snorted and focused on the job before her, though her small ears were perked and alert just in case. "Halt," she said to the filly, and stopped. The filly stopped with her back legs splayed, as well as her front legs. "Like this," Keelin said and bent down to place the filly's feet so that her back legs were only slightly apart. "Now again," she said and the two walked forward. "Halt," Keelin said, and Jewel stopped well with her front legs square. "Good girl," Keelin said happily, and patted the filly.
